Since Evie's birth, I've fielded many questions about what Evie's apnea monitor actually looks like. Here's a picture of the band and leads she wears to bed each night. The two leads fit under her armpits. One measures heartrate, while the other measures breathing. The two wires that hook under her diaper are threaded out the leg holes of her pajamas, and then hook into the actual machine.
There are many times when I look down at Evie, sleeping peacefully, and wonder how this became my "normal." Still, I'm thankful that medical science has come this far because the monitor gives me a lot of peace.
