Evie's 1st Trip to the Aquarium

As Kyle and I got closer to the one year anniversary of Nile's death, it became clear that we couldn't just sit at home and mope. We needed to make new, happy memories and keep ourselves busy. My mom had given me an Audubon membership as an early birthday present, so Kyle and I decided that we'd meet up with Daphne and Wyatt for a trip to the aquarium. Not bringing Nile to the aquarium is one of my many regrets, so I wanted to make sure that Evie had that experience.

On our way there, Kyle and I briefly played tourist and took advantage of some great photo ops. I just LOVE living in New Orleans, although I could do without the crime, bad schools, and hurricanes.

The actual aquarium trip was amazing! Evie was such a good baby throughout the whole walk. Daphne and I hung out and talked while Kyle and his little buddy Wyatt had a ball. I can't wait for Evie to get old enough to understand what she's looking at. I look forward to her toddler years so much!

All in all, the 1 year anniversary of Nile's death was much better than we expected. In fact, the anticipation was worse than anything else. There were 2 nights leading up to December 9th when I cried myself to sleep. Still, passing this milestone gave me a renewed sense of strength. We CAN and WILL come out of this.
