On December 15, 2011, I returned to my job full time. Going back to work after a long break is never easy, but it was especially hard to leave Evie. I was a little concerned that she hadn't adjusted to my mom enough. Thankfully, it only took her about 2 days to feel comfortable.
This may sound backwards, but the only way that I stayed sane for my first week back was to not allow myself to think about Evie much. I didn't bring pictures. I didn't call and check on her. I just flipped a switch in my mind, came to work, and did the best job I could. I'm happy to report that now that I've been back for almost a month, I feel totally normal again...and yes, Evie's pictures are now in my office.
